What Do Red Rashes On The Arms And Legs Indicate?

I woke up one morning about a month ago and had some red spots on my arms and legs. They sort of looked like bites but several of them developed into raised rashes. I ve used a cortisone cream. which helped a little but the rashes are still with me and driving me crazy. Any suggestions besides going to doctor?

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of red rashes on the arms and legs which seem to be due to allergic reaction, contact dermatitis, bug bites and could be eczema.

I would suggest you to do:
- Apply cold compresses to rashes
- Avoid itching or pricking rashes
- Take antihistamine like Benadryl twice a day
- Avoid exposure to sunlight

If condition does not get well, then consult dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor may prescribe immunosuppressant drug along with corticosteroid ointment and antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
