Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Valsartan for a year , 40 mg tablet, one in the morning and one at night. I have small read spot breaking out and some of them get larger and the skin looks like it is peeling off, is this serious or even a result of the valsartan
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red spots on the skin which can occur due to conditions like contact dermatitis, allergic reaction, medication side effect and could be sudden response of body to allergan. Need not to worry. Valsartan does not seems to cause your symptoms. You should avoid touching or pricking these red spots and apply aloe vera gel on them. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antihistamine , corticosteroid ointment and may give adrenaline short . For now take benadryl twice a day , apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
