What Do Severe Lower Backache And Swelling In The Knees Indicate?

This morning I awoke with excruciating lower back pain and left leg pain down to the knee. I can barely stand or walk, but also have a sensation of extreme swelling in that knee, but there isn t any swelling. I ve only been able to struggle to the bathroom and get water today. What could be happening???

Most probably it could be prolapsed inter-vertebral disc for which bed rest and analgesics is recommended; followed by investigative work up.
