Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter was just told that she has syhlillis..She has sores all over her body and they have been treating her for everything else and it was not working...then they tested her for Hep-C and found it, which threw her into a panic.....she is blown up like a ballon ..what stage is she in?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Syphilis can appear is several different ways. The primary syphilis is just a not painful genital ulcer and if not properly treated it may in a few weeks to months in the secondary syphilis which consists of skin lesions spread all over the body which seems to also be the case of your daughter so very likely she has secondary syphilis.
Because syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease she is at risk for other sexually transmitted disease like in her case Hep C. It does not seem the case that the skin lesions are relate to Hep C. There are other sexually transmitted disease that your daughter should be checked for to rule them out and be on the safe side. These would be tests for chlamyida and gonorrhea, HIV and Hep B. If any of these tests comes out positive she should get the proper treatment related to the results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
