What Do Swelling And Puffiness On The Side Of The Face Indicate?

I am a 71 year old healthy, active female. For about a month now I have noticed some swelling or puffiness on the left side of my face. It is not sore or red, it is just puffy. I have asthma and it is pretty well controlled by using Qvar 80 inhaler, 2 puffs/twice per day. I have been on this inhaler for about a year or so. The only other prescription drugs that I take are Sertraline 50mg, 1/day and Ranitidine 300 mg, 1/day. Do you think the Qvar could be causing the face puffiness?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is not likely the Qvar since it would more likely cause a symmetrically reaction. It should not affect one side of the face more than the other.

Your doctor may first want to rule out a structural cause in that area of the face eg with the sinuses, bones or soft tissue.
If the change is significant then imaging with an x ray or ultrasound would be needed to complete this assessment.

I hope this helps
