Hi. Welcome to HCM. Based on your MRI report u dont seem to have a serious problem. Hypertrophied inferior turbinates can lead to blocked nasal breathing, breathing trouble at night, chronic nose bleeds, chronic sinus infections which may lead to headache. Your ENT surgeon may prescribe u nasal steroids sprays and these medications helps to reduce mucosal inflammation. However even after using these medications if u continue to get headaches and other problems associated with this u may have to undergo a surgery which may involve straightening the septum (septoplasty) or turbinate reduction (turbinoplasty).Regards.

Hi Asma,

Thank you for sharing your concern with HCM.

From the results of MRI you did, I have noticed that your nasal septum is mildly deviated to the left and inferior turbinate hypertrophy.

The very best thing to do is to consult an ENT specialist to decide whether to get the deviation surgically adjusted.

Furthermore, you need to start proper treatment for inferior turbinate hypertrophy (orally/nasal decongestants) and to discuss with ENT specialist if you should go for steroidal injections directly to the inferior turbinate.

Next, if you won't have improvements after medication therapy, should discuss over the surgical therapy.

At the end, your case is specific and delicate which should be further evaluated by ENT specialist.

All the best!
Dr.Alba
