my brother after endoscopy and colonoscopy was informed result showed stricture what is the next step to take? he has GI specialist appointment on Monday the 30th.My brother is 68 years old and on medicine for high blood pressure?Is their a diet that would help?My brother has been admitted 3 times since July due to bloody diarrhea,next time vomiting.last time constipation each time severe stomach pain.I feel surgery complication will be highly possible.he is a veteran and want to live a long life.

It is important to know if he has got any surgery done earlier. A case of stricture requires detailed investigation. The blood diarrhea and pain is probably from the stricture. The increasing frequency of symptoms is from the slowly progressing stricture.

In the present situation, a CT scan abdomen and pelvis might be indicated to know the segment of stricture and any cause for it. By knowing the size of strictured bowel and the adjacent structures it will be clear regarding to cause of the stricture. Once the cause is known then a complete treatment solution can be decided. Please do not worry.
