General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the surgery might be to relieve any nerve entrapment or soft tissue removal, to correct stenosis, but lytic lesion should be worked up as well with urine for Bence Jones protein and LDH and ESR initially.

Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen alongwith muscle relaxants like tizanidine and nerve pain suppressants like gabapentin can be used for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
