Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do These Neutrophil And Lymphocyte Counts Indicate?
I have high Neutrophils 76 differential and low lymphocytes 17 differential 1. What can that possibly indicate? 2 Is this any precursor for cancer? 3. What can I take or do naturally to increase my lymphocytes numbers? 4. What plan of action would you recommend?
Hi You need not worry about 17% lymphocyte count as your neutrophil count is also on a higher side of 76%. Now high neutrophil count is commonly seen in recent infections. So, the differential counts should always be correlated clinically. I would be worried about 17% lymphocytes if there was some symptoms like gum bleeding, weight loss etc or if you are immunodeficient. And you haven't mentioned any of such symptoms. So in this background, here are the answers for all of your questions 1) It can indicate that your neutrophil count is a bit high and that is the reason your lymphocyte count is seen as a bit low 2)There are no indications which are pointing towards a cancer diagnosis here 3)Just maintain a healthy lifestyle 4)A repeat test and correlating with any clinical signs Do discuss the above points with your caregiver in the next consultation. Hope this helps. Thanks.
