What Do White Rashes All Over The Body Indicate?

My baby is 4 and half months old. Initially he had a pink rashes all over his body doctor has prescribed calosoft AF Lotion it helped to some extent pink rashes disappeared but later i could see some white patches all over his body . Doctor has suggested atogla concluding it s a fungal infection. Now i could see only a little improvement in the white patches curing. How long does it take to cure those patches and get my baby to the normal skin??

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

White rashes of the infant may be due to

1. Erythema toxicum is another common newborn rash. It looks like red blotches with ill-defined borders that are slightly raised, and may have a small white or yellow dot in the center. Its cause is unknown, and it resolves without treatment after a few days or weeks.

2. Little white bumps on the nose and face (milia) are caused by blocked oil glands. When a baby s oil glands enlarge and open up in a few days or weeks, the white bumps disappear.

3. Salmon patches are simple nests of blood vessels (probably caused by maternal hormones) that fade on their own after a few weeks or months.

4. Pink pimples are sometimes thought to be caused by exposure in the womb to maternal hormones. No treatment is needed, just time.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Please consult your pediatrician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
