Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had an MRI scan but I do not understand, can you please decipher it for me? L5/S1: There is a disc desiccation and intervertebral disc space narrowing at this level. There is a posterior disc bulge. There is a superimposed right posterolateral protrusion. In addition, there are associated posterior projecting endplate osteophytes in a right posterolateral location. There is a right paracentral disc extrusion with some inferior extension at this level. The inferior component of the extrusion extends to the left of the midline. This extrusion measures approximately 12mm (superoinferior) x 8mm (mediolateral) x 5mm (anteroposterior). The right posterolateral protrusion and endplate osteophytes result in posterior displacement and deformity of the right S1 nerve root. The extrusion likely abuts the right S1 nerve root. Note is made of some left facet joint arthropathy. There is no significant foraminal stenosis.
dear sir, it simply means that your multiple discs are displaced at multiple levels, and there is compression of nerve at S1 level by this displaced disc, compression of nerves and displaced disc are the cause of your pain. thanks and regards
