my cervical MRI reports shows the impression that PIVD at C3-C4,C4-C5 and C5-C6 level with mild left neural foraminal stenosis at C5-C-6 level. Can you please explain to me what is this report mean. I get severe radiating pain on the left shoulder and hand. Please help?
MRI findings suggests mild degenerative disc disease of cervical spine. It is due to chronic stress on annulus fibrosis.
At C3-4,C4-5 and C5-6 level, there is prolapsed inter vertebral disc(PIVD).Prolapsed interverbral disc is causing mild neural foramen narrowing at C5-6 level in left side. Neural formamen narrowing is causing radiating pain due to irritation of nerve roots.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy and analgesics.Since you have mild findings,so you should try physiotherapy first.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.
