What Does the following MRI Scan Result Mean?
I just had an MRI of my left ankle because I have insertional tendonitis (I had a compound break of my ankle in 2003). The conclusion on the report is: 1. There is moderate tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon. There is spurring at the insertion of the Achillles tendon with accompanying marrow edema. There is mild increased signal within the distal 4 cm of t. 2. There are postoperative changes of the fibula and evidence of an old syndemotic injury. What does this mean other than I have insertional tendonitis with a spur and I ve previously broken the foot? What does the mild increased signal indicate?

I really appreciate your concern, it is the indicative of inflammatory condition of tissue and infection need to be ruled out, but condition can be managed on conservative way, that includes anti-inflammatory and anti-biotic, prior to this better to have words with orthopedic surgeon hope this information helps.
