Sir I am 36 years old male. On July 2014 I am slipped while running on that time it is not possible to walk/move a single step. From that time to date I have visited various orthopedists for the same. I have MRI and X-rays reports. They have shows impression as: Changes of PIVD and Degenerative Changes. And shows L5-S1 10.3mm and Area 115. I am suffering from pain on left leg from heaps to down. No problem on walking but when I am sitting on chair I have pain on back and left legs. Kindly suggest how to get relief from this pain.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The MRI of the spine shows prolapse of inter vertebral disc (PIVD) between vertebrae L5 and S1. Prolapse implies that the inter vertebral disc has got displaced from its position. The displacement has led to degenerative changes in the inter vertebral disc. The prolapsed inter vertebral disc can compress the spinal nerve(s) and this is probably responsible for pain radiating from hip to leg. The treatment for PIVD is rest and pain killers to control the pain. However, if the prolapse does not respond to conservative measures, surgical treatment is required. I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for further management.
The reports of your imaging and the symptoms you have show that you have a slip disc at the lower part of your back. This is squeezing some of the nerves that supply your left leg.
In my practice, I would refer you for physiotherapy to assist with strengthening the back and relieving the pressure off of the disc. This treatment option usually takes time, usually weeks to months to achieve cure.
If physiotherapy failed to improve the symptoms or your symptoms were worsening, I would refer you to a spinal surgeon to operate on the damaged disc.
All the best.
