What Does 3 White Marks On Gum Signify While Having History Of Colon Removal Surgery, ileostomy And On Warfarin?

Tonight, I noticed three white marks on my gums near the gumline after brushing my teeth. I am concerned about this. I have been online trying to get information. I had ulcerative colitis for many years; however, after having my entire colon removed and my rectum, I have not had any symptoms since 2010. Also, I have an ileostomy. Please advise if I have anything to worry about. I am also on Warfarin for the rest of my life due to a past history of DVT; hence, I must sometimes limit green vegetables. Please advise, as I have been quite ill, at times, since the late 80's, and the thought of another medical setback is a big concern to me now. Thank you very much.

Hi,

The white marks on your gums near the gum-line is related to any infection you had recently:
- viral
- candida
- infection of teeth root

Once the infection is treated, the white marks will be resolved too. A further evaluation with a dentist is needed to exclude infection of the teeth root.

I also suggest to do culturing of mouth swab to exclude fungal infection. If nothing seen, then, it is due to any virosis you're having recently.

Take care!
