If a person's blood pressure is 120/70, the 70 refers to the pressure:

      during relaxation of the aorta.
      lowering between contractions.

Hi,
thanks for asking.
When you look at the blood pressure as 120/70 mm of Hg, 120 is systolic and 70 is diastolic.
Systolic pressure is due to contraction of ventricles, which is recognized as heart beat and after this when the heart is filling the amount of fall of pressure in blood vessels, not necessarily aorta is deemed as diastolic pressure.

The blood pressure in between the heart beats is diastolic pressure and during heart beat is systolic pressure.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
