What Does 'MILD HEPATOMEGALY WITH INCREASED ECHOGENICITY' Mean?
sir. My husband is aged 35 and is diabetic. due to severe back pain,he underwent a scan and the impression shows MILD HEPATOMEGALY WITH INCREASED ECHOGENICITY ,BILATERAL RENAL CALCULI MILD TO MODERATE HYDRONEPHROSIS AND HYDROURETEROSIS Lt .KIDNEY AND A CALCULUS IN MID URETER OF LEFT KIDNEY PLEASE EXPLAIN ME THE CONDITION AND TREATMENT
I am so sorry to hear about these findings and all the inconveniences this has caused you both. For the liver, the findings are very non specific and would need more information to tell what the problem is. Hepatomegaly means the size of the liver is more than normal and mild means it is a very small increased.
The other information suggest that there is urine buildup in the kidneys probably caused by obstruction of the ureters. Also, there is a stone in the gall bladder.
These findings seem too many for a single person. If this exam was not done by a radiologist, I will suggest that you get this test done by a radiologist to confirm these findings.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be. Thanks. Dr. Ditah, MD.
