my dad MRI report says focal posterocentral disc protrusin at L4/5 level causing thecal sac and equina nerve root compression and narrowing of bilatreal lateral recesses and intervertibral neural foramina contributed by facet degeneration pl. let me know the actual probelm
There is degeneration of lumbar spine disc between L 4 and L5. This is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable. If there is severe pain then consulting a neurosurgeon will help. Nowadays there are procedures like laser assisted surgery which are minimally invasive with good results.
