What Does PET Scan Results Of Lung Changes Of Indeterminate Origin Mean?
ok husband had a pet scan results show again the lung changes that are of indeterminate origin pulomary apt with possible bronchoscopy pending why did pet scan not show whats wrong and what does indeterminate mean should he continue with pulmonary apt?
Hi, Thanks for your query, PET scan usually label a lesion hot or cold depending upon its metabolic activity and utilisation of glucose. HOT usually means cancerous except for few lesion like granulomas. Indeterminate means inconclusive uptake. Chest must have some lesion where the doctors need to rule out its cancerous charactrisitic. If it is central i.e with in the proximal airways, it is accessed bronchoscopically and if it is peripheral, then accessed vis ultrasound guidance. So that a tissue can be obtained for histpathological examination to reach a correct diagnosis. Follow the advise of treating physician....
best wishes
