What Does TSH Is 5.84mclU/ml In The Report Indicate?
I am Viji, I just got a general blood test done y day. Everything is normal but the TSH(chemiluminiscence) is 5.84 mclU/ml where the normal range is 0.4 -4.2. What health risk do I have due go this? Iam a non vegetarian and include a moderate amount of seafood in my diet. Pls let me know.
TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone, the function of which is to stimulate the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones. Raised TSH levels simply indicate that your thyroid gland is needing extra stimulation to its work. Although the increase in TSH level in your case is very slight, a proper interpretation can be made only in conjunction with reports of your thyroid hormone levels. Please get your free T3 and free T4 levels done as well and discuss the reports with your doctor. If you are found to be hypothyroid, it can be treated with thyroid hormone supplementation.
Best wishes.
