Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does A Blister Across The Waistline Indicate?
My 24 year old son has a blister rash that goes across his waist line from right to left. As of last night they were not swollen or very red. He now says it s spreading to his back. I ve looked at poison ivy pictures but I m not sure they look like the pictures. He says he hasn t been around the ivy.
As per your query your son has symptoms of blister across the waistline which could be due to atopic dermatitis, herpes simplex infection and due to clogging of sweat glands.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you clean that area with betadine, keep it dry and clean. You should take an antihistamine like Benadryl and apply over the counter antibiotics cream. If condition persists then consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor may order skin patch test, blood test and take a sample for a lab test. The doctor may prescribe corticosteroid ointment, antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari, Dentist
