What Does A Growth In Liver After Colon Resection Indicate?
hi there my grandmother had a colon resection done becasue she was diagnosed with colon cancer . afterwards her doctors told her she was cancer free .. a year later she had colonoscopy done and everything was fine .. now she apparently has a growth in her liver .. could this be cancer spread from the colon to the liver ? her docotor has order an mri .. does that mean he saw something in her ct scan that was alarming?
The presence of a lesion in the liver after prior treatment for colon cancer indicates a high possibility of the lesion being liver metastases from the colon cancer. It needs further evaluation by imaging, Serum markers(CEA) and needle biopsy for confirmation. After confirmation of the same, she would require chemotherapy +/- surgery for treatment depending on the status of the disease
