What Does A High Fever Post Accident Indicate ?
My daughters 20 yr old friend has met with a car accident. He is safe but is getting high fever after the accident. What does it indicate ? Is there any danger ? Please explain the reason as we are worried. Thank you !

You didnt mention how long back he had the accident.
What kind of injury he had ?
How much temperature rise is he having?
What are the other symptoms that he is having?
Did he have head injury ? The temperature regulation mechanism is controlled by our brain and it may be that due to brain injury that mechanism has altered.
The other reason might be hidden infection which is causing the fever.
Whatever be the cause you need to go to your doctor for a check up.Blood investigations need to be done.CT scan of brain is to be done in case of head injury.Dont neglect.

you did not mention about the period of the accident
also whether he had a head injury or not
fever after accidents may be due to following
a.head injury ,wherein the fever mechanism is regulated and get upset after accident
b.some internal injury which is not visible but is causing septicemia
so what i would suggest is that he pays a visit to nearby hospital and get a ct scan of head done plus thorough clinical and blood examination done to find out the exact cause of fever
paracetamol 500 mg can be taken in the intermittent period but rush him for proper medical care

To be very precised,even though your daughters friend was safe after the accident,it must have left some impact on him(mental/physical).As a result he is experiencing increased body temperature(fever).
You have not mentioned whether he had any minor injuries due to the accident or not.If no physical injury visible,my advise would be to let him undergo investigations......complete blood count with esr,scannings for any bony injury,if he complaining of any pain.I think he will overcome the mental trauma of the accident with time,so will his fever.do not worry.take care dear.

Post accident fever indicate some internal infection or damage,get it investigated to find the focus . Persistent fever tells Pus is some where ,try to locate .
