Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does A Large, Black Floater In The Eye Post A Sneezing Episode Suggest?
Recently I had a sneezing episode during which I sneezed about 10 times in rapid succession. Within about 3 hours a large black floater appeared in the eye alongside the nostril doing the sneezing. I had cataract surgery on this eye about 1 year ago. I had never had noticeable floaters in either eye before now.
Welcome to HCM I have read and understood your query I appreciate your health concern In my view the new floater you are seeing is due to a small vessels bleed in viterous, which is a jelly like fluid behind the lens in eye;due to excessive sneezing.Sneezing may increase the pressure and result into micro hemorrhages anywhere in the body.As you are not having any other symptoms like flashes of light or blurred vision, there is most probably nothing to worry about much.Still i would recommend you to see an ophthalmologist to get a complete eye/fundal examination. I hope this is useful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help Regards Dr Faeza Sherdil
