What Does A Large Mass On The Side Of The Spine?

I have a large, hard mass about 10 inches in length and 5 inches wide to the right side of my spine. I have a large, hard mass on the right side of my spine 10 long by 5 wide. is not moveable and when I lie down it does hurt to yawn or take a deep breath. My Dr. did an US but didn t see any blood supply. Now I have a small nodule on the left side to mid-spine? Is an MRI suggested or what is that?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

I would recommend performing a spine MRI in this region, in order to examine better the soft tissues. Gadolinium enhancement sequences may be needed.

Based on your description it could be a tumor of the soft tissues (muscles, fatty tissue) or an infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
