What Does A Lump Between Clavicle And Shoulder Blade Indicate?

Just noticed a lump on left shoulder between clavicle and shoulder blade, not painful only when pressed hard, just a little pain. Could this just be fatty tissue? It is the size of a strawberry. I did not notice it until my daughter asked what it was. My right shoulder is normal.

Hello,

You noticed a lump in your left shoulder between clavicle and shoulder blade. It is about the size of a strawberry. You do not have pain until pressed hard. Your other shoulder is normal. Your symptom is indicative of cyst or a muscle knot. Do not press, do not scratch.

Get it clinically examined and evaluated in the ER, If it is a muscle knot, you may not worry. It will go away slowly with gentle massage with pain relieving ointment. The treating doctor will order few tests to be done like CT / MRI, X-ray or biopsy to confirm diagnosis. If a cyst is detected it will be removed by surgical excision, drainage if required. It will be cleaned and antiseptic dressing done. You will be prescribed a course of antibiotic for better and faster healing.
