Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had a mammogram 10 weeks ago which was clear. I am 60 years of age and have just noticed a hard lump which appears to be attached to the outer end of one of my left ribs. It is hard and wont move and I think has grown onto the rib. It is about half an inch in size and can actually be seen when I left my arm up. We are currently on a three week holiday and am concerned that waiting to see my doctor is going to adversely affect any treatment. Should I return home early or is it safe to wait the three weeks?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. The describtion of the lump you give.... that the lump has appeared in less than 10 weeks time,it is hard &fixed...makes early examination & investigations to get exact diagnosis &timely treatment. I would advise you to go home earliest... get examined by a surgeon.. he may be in better position to advise need of investigations for malignancy. Though just observation of patient a can not confirm diagnosis &it may come out to be something less dangerous....it's always better to be caeeful & get investigated than neglecting &getting some unsolvable problem. Thanks.
