Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just discovered a lump on the side of my tongue it is almost like a wart type lump. Saw the dentist and he said to watch if for a couple of weeks, If it larger or sore to call and he will do a biopsy That is really the only way to know it is. It is not sore.
Wart type lump on side of tongue as per your query is due to hyperkeratosis of skin from continued irritation and continuous accumulation of plaque like material in oral cavity. Usually the condition go away by its own,This condition require maintenance of oral hygiene.
Yes you should visit dentist and go for biopsy as this type of keratois can occur due to diseases like lichen planus or to rule out some more serious problems like cyst of tongue. Hope your concern had been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
