Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. My son went snowboarding and fell on his knee. He has an abrasion and little bruising and an indent in the middle of his knee. He said it doesn t hurt unless he presses on it. Hes walking fine. Should we be concerned? The indent really freaks me out. Thank you.
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. Bruises develop when small blood vessels under the skin tear or rupture.Blood leaks into tissues under the skin and causes the black-and-blue color. As bruises heal, usually within 2 to 4 weeks, they often turn colors, including purplish black, reddish blue, or yellowish green. Some advices that I can give to you are : - Apply Ice -Elevate the Area:If possible, raise the bruised area above the heart to reduce swelling -Don't give aspirin Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
