What Does A Painless Lump Along With White Patches In Mouth Indicate?
i have a painless lump inside my cheek, white patches in my mouth and a sore throat. I am a a former smokeless tobacco user so i am very worried. i have see my doctor and he said it is a oral infection, although i have read that these are the most common signs of mouth cancer i am still very worried.
As per your complain a small lump on the cheek can be a Mucocele which is formed due to obstruction in the minor salivary glands or their ducts leading to spillage of mucous into the soft tissues leading to formation of a small lump.. It can also be a traumatic fibroma caused by cheek bite.. A long standing lump can be at times a cancerous tumor as you have history of tobacco chewing and it is one of the predisposing factor for cancer but nothing can be clearly sad without a biopsy..
White patches over the cheeks can be Leukoplakia which represents as white hyperkeratotic patches over the cheeks and more specifically in the location where you place tobacco in mouth..
I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated and in case if needed biopsy of the patches and the lump should be done and treatment can be planned only after correct diagnosis..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
