What Does A Rash Around The Anus Indicate?

I have a perfect ring circle rash around my anus. It s red and irritates me all the time. I have been dealing with this issue for years. It itches and I scratch it consistently. I use a steroid cream that helps the situation but eventually that wears off. Every time I go to the doctor they just prescribe me the fungal cream or steroid cream. The steroid cream definitely works better. I am just getting sick of dealing with this situation of mine. It has literally taken over my life. What would you recommend? Any tests I can take? Does it have to do with allergies? I am a very clean person. I shower everyday. Please help?

Thanks for putting your query over here.
Rash around your anus may be due to fungal infection.
If I were your treating doctor,I recommend,
-Topical application of antifungal plus corticosteroid ointment
-oral anti histaminics like cetrizine/loratidine for itching.
-Oral antifungals like ketoconazole/fluconazole may be given(prescription drug)
-Keep the area clean and dry.If there are lot of hair can shave or trim them.Use loose fitting and cotton undergarments.Wear undergatment only when the area is completely dry.
-Eat more of fibrous food ,drink adequate amount of water to prevent constipation.Constipation,anal fissures more likely cause of anal itching.
-If it is associated with abdominal discomfort or bloating,hookworm/pinworm infestation may be suspected.Stool test may be necessary.
-If still the rash persists or increase in size,possibilty of genital warts needs to be ruled out.Visit to surgeon will be necessary.
