Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my psa has risen from 5.5 to 10.4 in 2 month. I had a bad bacterial respiratory and lung infection and took levoflaxocin for 10 days 3 weeks ago. PSA test was taken about 12 days after finishing the levoflaxocin. PSA has been fairly consistent for several years therefore I find it a big coincidence for the sudden and rapid rise. I am healthy and 73 years old
Increased in the level of PSA is not something to be taken lightly. It’s suggestive of malignant prostate.
Treatment available nowadays are medicinal as well as surgical and prognosis is also good for Ca Prostate so I suggest you to visit an oncosurgeon for further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
