What Does A Sharp Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?
I m a 57 year old male. I have a sharp pain in my lower abdomen on my left side. It has been this way for about twenty hours. It started off felling like a side ache you get when you run but has progressively gotten more painful. Could it be my appendix?
No, it could not be your appendix because that is on the right. If you were experiencing pain on the right side of the abdomen, then that would possibly be related to the appendix.
The structures on the left side of the abdomen are the spleen, kidney, intestines. It is possible that the pain may be related to one of these structures or referred from another close area.
If it continues, then it would be best for you to see your doctor for an assessment. Abdominal pain is best diagnosed by examination of the abdomen.
I hope this helps
