What Does A Stuck Feeling In The Back Of Throat Suggest?
I inhaled a peeled sliver of carrot which made me instantly cough hard like went down wrong pipe but this seems like it is still there at back of throat and keep trying to cough but not coming up. Scary feeling but can breath normal so not sure if should worry if still there in esophagus or trachea or lung?
You are having the feeling of a peeled silver of carrot stuck in the back of the throat. Presently, you are trying to cough and it is not coming out. You can breath normally but you have discomfort. You should take sips of water or green tea slowly. You can gargle your throat with warm salt water to help it come out.
If you have the same feeling you are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, you may have to get X-ray done if required. The treating doctor will detect the stuck apple peel and remove it. Do not ignore and do not try to be forceful with yourself as it may worsen the symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
