What Does A White Ball At The Back Of The Throat Indicate?

hello, i ve been feeling sick two days ago.i rested then and felt fine yesterday and today. i felt a pinch in the back of my throat for a couple hours now and found a white little ball back there.how long can i wait before going to the doctor before its to late

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of white ball at the back of the throat indicate which is due to streptococcal infection which is leading to strep throat. white appearance at the back of the mouth also indicate Yeast infection known as Thrush or stone in the tonsils. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done and go for sputum test as well. Doctor may also take sample for lab test. You should do is to do warm saline gargles at-least 2 to 3 times in a day. Avoid fried , sharp and spicy food. You can take soothing lozenges to reduce pain and discomfort. You should take antibiotic amoxicillin for at-least 5 days. Avoid drinking cold carbonated beverages. Maintain oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Do rinses with antimicrobial mouth wash like listrine as well.
