Hi, i recently had a smear test and the results came back abnormal.... i also had mild thrush when i went for my smear, is there any chance this could of effected the results and why do i have to wait 6 months for another test as its worrying my so much and want to do it sooner.
The thrush will not affect the smear findings. It is possible that few abnormal cells are seen in your smear and this means a follow yup testing must be done in 6 months. This is standard procedure to repeat smear in any suspected abnormal cells seen initially. Please do not worry because if the smear was really dangerous then the doctor would have put you through additional tests immediately.
