What Does An Infected Wound Below The Buttocks Indicate?

I have a wound on the back of my leg on the underwear line, just below buttocks. It was caused by continual abrasion from underwear on a hike. It has been leaking a clear odorless fluid and some small amount of blood for about a week. The amount of clear fluid is significant, at least several tablespoons per day. It is very irritated, but the pain is fairly minor. I do not have a fever.

Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic.

The wound that happen to your buttocks may occur because the condition of the part is too moist or there might be fungal infection (tinea).

You need to pay attention to the cleanliness of the wound so as not to get infected, limit the activity (not doing too much activity) and also pay attention to the balanced nutrition intake. A good intake of protein, vitamin A and vitamin C can help the wound healing process.

Good wound care is also an important factor that must be considered to accelerate wound healing. Keep the wound clean, and cover the wound with sterile gauze as long as the wound is not completely sealed (gauze is replaced twice a day). While the wound is still wet, clean and compress with a moist mask that has been moistened with 0.9% NaCl infusion or clean cooking water at least 2x / day. When will replace the gauze, do not forget to wet the gauze a little so as not to stick and cause new injuries.

If after doing this, your complaints did not go away, you have to check it with your local dermatologist.

Regards,
dr. Nurul Falah
