Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just got over the flu. I took all of the Tamiflu 2 weeks ago. I was also given antibiotics because i had pustules on my tonsil. Today, my symptoms returned as well as sharp pain in my back on my right side. It hurts when i breath in and im having to increase my albuteral inhaler. Im concerned that i may have pnemonia. What do you think?
Yes, we should definitely rule out pneumonia in your case. Pneumonia can cause pleurisy and this, in turn, causes chest pain on breathing. Pneumonia is seen after viral upper respiratory tract infection like flu. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done a clinical examination of the respiratory system and chest x-ray. A chest x-ray is a must for the diagnosis of pneumonia. You may need a higher antibiotic and other supportive treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
