Results from MRI : there is asymmetry of the bone canal at the L5/s1 level. S1 is a transitional vertebrae with a well developed disc at s1-s2. Posterior elements appear abnormal and there is a bony bar extending from the inferior aspect of the right L5/s1 facet joint to cause some slight compression of the right posterolateral aspect of the thecal sac. There is a small posterior bulge at L45 but there does not appear to be any significant encroachment on neural structures . What does this really mean
hi, I think you don't hove to worry about it, these findings means that you have some spinal congenital changes extra S1 vertebra we can call it lumbarization as it resemble the lumbar vertebra, also as apart of this anomaly there is a bony projection at the posterolateral aspect of the thecal sac that covers the cord and its terminal parts(cauda equina) as well as slight non significant L4/5 disc bulge means that it doesn't compress the nerve roots at its level, anyway you should consult your neurologist about your symptoms just to correlate these insignificant findings with the clinical picture to seen what you need from medications and/or physiotherapy and follow up.I hope that is satisfactory for you
