Hello and welcome to HCM,
The two tests results-
RDW and MCV are associated with red blood cells.
The normal value for MCV-CV is between 80-100 fl.
The MCV-CV is low and thus it implies that the red blood cells have low volume.
RDW should be below 13 in health.
In your case RDW-CV is raised.
A raised RDW-CV implies that there is variation in the sizes of red blood cells.
Low MCV and raised RDW implies that the red blood cells are smaller in size and there is variation in the sizes too.
This picture is seen in
iron deficiency anemia.
You need to consult your doctor with the reports for prescription of
iron supplements.
The other complaints that you have mentioned i.e. pain in upper rib region, back and abdomen, have to be investigated.
An
ultrasound of abdomen is required at first hand.
You need to consult your doctor for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and further management.
Thanks and take care
