Hi, It is called as cardiac catheterization. It involved passing a small tube into heart and then into the coronary blood vessels to check any defect in the blood vessels, valves or muscles of the heart. At times, an angiogram (dye injected) is also done to check any obstruction (partial or complete) due to atherosclerosis is present. Look at the doctors team experience in cardiology and especially in managing cath lab specifically. Most hospitals now a days have a good setup. You can discuss with you doctor. There are risks involved, but a good team will reduce most of the risks. Any further queries, happy to answer again.
