What Does Decrease In The Growth Rate Indicate During Pregnancy?

My daughter in law is in her 35th week of pregnancy. The baby s gone from 51% growth rate one month to 43% the next month, to 15% this month. My daughter in law has a single artery umbilical cord. Should we be worried that the baby is okay and healthy?

Hello and welcome.

The growth restriction could be indicative of a possible low birth weight or premature birth, which are both not very good for the baby. Intra-uterine growth restriction can cause numerous ill effects and at times even serious consequences relating to fatalities. Please make sure maternal nutrition is given utmost priority, and speak to your daughter-in-law's doctor immediately about this issue.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
