Hi,

Depression is quite frequent problem among heart patients, especially after surgery. It is not easy to manage, so you should be patient. He needs much support from the family. Usually rehabilitation programs are helpful, I don't know if he has participated a rehabilitation course after the surgery. If he can't overlook the astgeny and depression himself for a long time, then you need to refer a specialist.

Take care
