What Does Disc Bulge With Arthropathy In Report Suggest
What does this mean? L2/3: Central disc bulge with disc desiccation. Mild facet arthropathy with posteriorly projecting right facet synovial cyst without contact or compromise intrathecal or exiting nerve roots. Ligamentous hypertrophy with mild left ligamentous fluid signal, and left dorsolateral thecal sac impression as the intrathecal roots descend. L3/4: Disc desiccation, left paracentral, foraminal and far lateral disc protrusion with far lateral annular tear. This may minimally contact the undersurface of the exiting left L3 nerve root. L4/5: Central and left paracentral disc protrusion and annular tear, with mild ventral impression on thecal sac. In combination with facet and ligamentous hypertrophy, there is narrowing of the superior L5 lateral recesses of the intrathecal L5 roots descend. Posteriorly projecting right facet synovial cyst, without contact or compromise intrathecal or exiting nerve roots.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of the test report of the spinal cord is as follows: An abnormality is detected at the level of L2/L3 vertebrae and at the level of L4/L5. The inter vertebral discs at these levels is bulging and shows degeneration. Bulging of inter vertebral discs can finally lead to prolapse if not managed in time.
Besides bulging of the inter vertebral diss there is thickening of the associated cartilages. There is formation of a synovial cyst. Synovial cyst is formed by collection of fluid or some other serous fluid in a cyst formed by synovium (lining of the joints of the inter-vertebral discs).
However, the soft tissue changes and the inter vertebral disc changes have not caused compression of any of the structures in the spinal cord.
Initially conservative treatment is done for the condition in the form of pain killers and rest.
Consult your orthopedician for further management.
