Hello and welcome to HCM,
Before giving you interpretation of the pelvic scan, I would like to explain you the structure of
kidney and
ureter so you can understand the scan better.
The kidney is a bean shaped structure which into a dilated structure called pelvis.
The pelvis opens into a tubular structure called ureter.
The scan shows that the left kidney has tiny stones.
The pelvis is dilated and this may be due to back pressure.
The back pressure exerted may be due to pressure exerted by stones in the lower end of ureter.
The pressure causing dilated pelvis needs to be relieved.
Thus, cause of dilated pelvis needs to be known.
Further investigations like
cystoscopy may be required to look into the
urinary bladder and the ureter to find the cause of dilated pelvis.
I suggest you to consult an
urologist for clinical assessment and thus management.
Thanks and take care
