Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husbands PSA test result is 3.8, up from last year of 3.4. His primary care doc said he should be checked. So, how and what would be checked? I m assuming he should contact a Urologist. Why couldn t the primary care doctor check whatever needs to be checked?
An elevated PSA is not a diagnosis for prostate cancer, nor does it always lead to a biopsy.
You should consult with Urologist because he will diagnose, and treat the disease. You should do and urine test abdominal ultrasound to see the residual urine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
