What Does Enlarged Liver Mean?

I had an ultrasound because lately I ve been on and off with nausea and upset stomach (no diarrhea or fever) going on for a few months. Did all the exams and doctors said there was nothing. But the doctor mentioned my liver was enlarged. I asked him what it meant he just said don t get drunk I don t really drink a lot anymore anyways so what does having a larger liver mean? Is it a health risk? Is it normal or should I be looking more into it?

Hello,

You are having frequent attacks of nausea and upset stomach and your doctor says you have enlarged liver. Since you have enlarged liver, your digestion is being affected and hence, you are experiencing the symptoms of nausea and upset stomach now and then. You should stop taking alcohol as it will ruin your liver. Presently, stop taking spicy, oily food. Take boiled food with a little dash of olive oil. Avoid taking raw vegetables and fruits as they can cause indigestion.

Avoid red meat, full fat dairy products, cheese, refined flour, trans fat as these will overload your liver cause bloating, nausea and vomiting. Neglect may lead to jaundice, hepatitis', liver cancer, etc. Stay away from addictions if any. Take rest and break from work for a couple of days. Take quality sleep and switch to healthy eating. You can take lean meat, small fishes, well cooked vegetables and fruits. Avoid oil at all cost.

Take food good for the liver and take liver tonics to boost the liver health. Get Liver function tests, blood tests and urine examination done to detect bile pigment, bilirubin, etc. Get USG liver done to detect enlargement. Stay under strict diet control and rest. Then get re-test done after 45 days, your system should get healthy by then.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
