What Does Enlarged Lymph Nodes Indicate In An Ultrasound Report?
I had hernia surgery in july where they found a suspicious lymph node that they were sending to pathology, however a mistake was made and the lymph node went missing. A month later I ended up with a large surgical abscess that had to be surgically re-opened and packed daily. Since then more groin lymph nodes have became apparent my doctor followed it with monthly ultrasound exams. My last report said I now have several enlarged nodes under 1cm , two months ago it was only two nodes, and a new collection of fluid near the area. My doctor is concerned about the fluid but they are saying the lymph nodes are reactive. Since the first one was never sent to pathology I have been concerned that these new nodes in the same area that have been multiplying for months now may not just be reactive. Should I be concerned.
Lymphnode enlargement needs to be assessed with caution. If there is pain then most likely it is inflammatory. If there is no pain then conditions like neoplasia have to be considered. It is best that you get FNAC done from the nodes and confirm your condition.
