Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complainStrep throat is a bacterial
throat infection and as the Circumvallate Papillae are located over the back one third of tongue which is close to throat, infection in throat can lead to enlargement of the papillae due to inflammation and you need not to worry about it..
You can consult a Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get a
rapid strep test done to confirm for bacterial infection and if it is confirmed then he can advise you antibiotics like
Augmentin or
Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Naproxen or
Diclofenac, do warm saline gargles, avoid spicy and chilled foods and sip on plenty of warm fluids..
Sucking throat lozenges and steam inhalations will further help..
As the infection will subside the papillae will also regress simultaneously...
If there is pain in papillae then you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash for relief from pain especially during meals.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
