Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Three years ago I had an ICD placed in. I was hospitalized three times after twice to remove fluid from the lining of my lungs and once to remove the fluid from around the lining of my heart. That s when they realized that one of my leads were placed in to short and pulled apart. I undergone a second surgery and a second ICD 3 months later. Now three years later I am starting to have some problems. I am experiencing some difficulty breathing, some discomfort in my chest where my heart is and when sleeping on my sides I feel pressure in my chest and the last few nights have been tough to sleep. Is there anything I should be concerned with.
After going through your query I understand your concern.
I would like to tell you that there are various causes of breathlessness associated with chest discomfort like acid reflux, angina, heart attack, pericarditis , pulmonary embolism etc and need to evaluated as soon as possible to avoid life threatening event. They can be and can not be related to your previous illness.
Kindly get an ECG, Echocardiography, Chest X-ray done and consult with a Cardiologist for diagnostic and physical evaluation.
